Khoda from Reza Dolatabadi on Vimeo.

Khoda by Reza DolatabadiI was searching for New Media Videos in Vimeo when suddenly I found this. This five minutes piece of art have  no reason to be jealous to other thousands of dollars production, everything here is so synchronized, crafted and even looks so fresh that is almost impossible not to think that we are  looking at a gigantic studio product when the reality is that this was actually a graduation project. Best of all… is the description the director & production designer Reza Dolatabadi said about its process:

What if you watch a film and whenever you pause it, you face a painting? This idea inspired Reza Dolatabadi to make Khoda. Over 6000 paintings were painstakingly produced during two years to create a five minutes film that would meet high personal standards. Khoda is a psychological thriller; a student project which was seen as a ‘mission impossible’ by many people but eventually proved possible!

This film is a group effort of three different persons, Reza Dolatabadi that made the digital paintings and the direction, Adam Thomson who is the animator and 3d artist and Hamed Mafakheri who is the composer of the soundtrack, a killer combination might i’d say…
