Candela Gallery of Puerto Rico presents for the first time at Photo Miami 07 International Art Fair. In this, its first occasion, Candela Gallery in conjunction with Art Tracking Projects, present a selection of seven Porto Rican artists that employ the use of photography and the new media as their expressive medium: Patricia Ã?lvarez, Omar Obdulio Peña Forty, José “Tony” Cruz, Jason Mena, Javier Olmeda, W&N & Héctor Madera-González.
The Candela booth #110 brings a project that undertakes: landscape, empty interiors, the city, art world, publicity and dialogue, mixed with a visual main concern for space. Omar O. Peña, presents a series of cartoons that satirize the artistic process and character roles within the art world. Javier Olmeda documents spaces of “no-publicity,” while José “Tony” Cruz contemplates movement throughout animation. On the other hand, Héctor Madera-González appropriates speech-bubbles suggesting positions of resistance and change, while W&N transforms everyday objects to playful and absurd ideas of perception. Lastly, Jason Mena documents the emptiness of the city and Patricia Alvarez the ordinary beauty found in old buildings.
Photo Miami 2007, the only art fair dedicated entirely to photography and new medias will be open on December 5th to the 9th.
