“Artists Invites Artist” is an art exhibit developed by artists in Valencia, Spain and Miami, Florida. The basis of the exhibit’s mission was formed considering that art is a universal language and has the ability to open dialog between diverse cultures. This event was initiated by harvesting the global possibilities and strengths that social media, such as facebook, twitter and you tube offer. The artistic exchange between Miami and Valencia will benefit both the artists and their communities providing an extraordinary experience and international exposure.
“Artists Invites Artist” will connect artists from Spain and South Florida, and will open a door to even more possibilities of artistic advancement and social networking between the two regions. Ten accomplished artists from each country have been invited to create works to be exhibited in each city.
The exhibitions have been co-curated by Alette Simmons-Jimenez (ArtFormz) and Cristina Ghetti (Red-Nomade). Red-Nomade, along with the Cultural Council of the city of Godella (Valencia) have offered a formal letter of invitation to the artists of Artformz and will host the show featuring 20 works of the South Florida artists at the “Casa de la Cultura de Burjassote”, Valencia. An additional 13 art works on paper will be featured in the Edifici Xicranda in nearby Godella. The exhibits will run for two weeks and will include scheduled visits to Art Museums and institutions in Valencia, along with a public panel discussion with the artists from both cities. The exhibitions will have Opening Receptions on the nights of October 13 and 14, 2010 in Valencia, Spain. The delegation traveling from Artformz will be comprised of artists Simmons-Jimenez, Haynes, Rytteke, and Ramanzini and will represent Miami at the opening reception and other formally scheduled events in Spain. In spring of 2011, Artformz in Miami will welcome a group of artists traveling from Valencia; host the exhibition, cultural tours, and panel discussion, completing the cycle.
